School Choice in Florida

SB 1550 is moving through the Florida senate committees. This bill would introduce a limited voucher for parents to use towards their child’s education. Of course this is igniting the vouchers debate in Florida.

Surprisingly there is an example of vouchers being used and where might surprise you. Sweden moved to vouchers back in 1993.

In 1993, Sweden introduced a system of school choice and vouchers, inspired by the ideas of American economists Milton and Rose Friedman. Even though the system was just as controversial then as any U.S. voucher proposal, the right to chose your school and bring the funding with you is today considered a natural right for families and is widely accepted by all political parties. Sid Preskitt gave a very informative presentation about Agenda 21 and ICLEI. At the end of the presentation he talked about letter and package of information he has presented to Gov Scott and AG Pam Bondi. This letter makes that case that the State of Florida should look into the Constitutionality of the State as well as local governments implementing a non-ratified treaty.

Many people asked if they could have a copy of the letter so they could sign it and mail it to Gov Scott and AG Bondi to enforce the importance of this issue with the citizens of Florida.

Click Here to download PDF of letter

If you entend to sign and send this letter to Gov Scott please include your name and address as well asking Gov Scott to address this issue.

If you do not know what Agenda 21 or ICLEI is stay tune. We are working on building an easy to understand and follow reference for this complex encroachment on our freedoms and property rights.
